Norwegian Forest Cat (NFO)

To Semi-longhair breeds
Body

The medium to large sized cat has a solid, elongated body with a massive bone structure.
The legs are long and muscular, the hind legs are higher than the front legs, the paws are
broad and round, with tufts between the toes.
The tail is very long (at least as long as the body) and bushy.

Head

The head has the shape of an equilateral triangle with a long, straight profile.
The chin is firm.

Ears The ears are very large with a broad base and high on the head so that the outer line of the
ears runs in a straight line over the cheeks. They have lynx-tufts and have ear furnishing.
Eyes The eyes are large, open and slightly oval.
Eye colour shall be even and corresponds to the coat colour.

Blue eyes are allowed only in pure white animals.
Odd-eyes are allowed only in pure white animals and in animals with the white parts Bicolour, Harlequin and Van (01, 02, 03).

Coat

The coat is of medium length. The woolly undercoat is covered by long, glossy, firm and
water repellent hair. The top coat covers the back, the flanks and the top of the tail completely.
The under side of the body and the back of the hind legs have only undercoat.
A long frill, a triangular-shaped beard hanging down from the cheeks and "knickerbockers"
on the hind legs complete the appearance.

Colour varieties

The colours chocolate and cinnamon, as well as their dilution (lilac and fawn) are not recognized
in any combinations (bicolour, tricolour, tabby). The pointed pattern is also not recognized.
All other colours and patterns are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted. The description
of colours is listed in the general list of colours.
